Kazakhstan is considering the possibility of gasification of the capital city of Nur-Sultan using Turkmen gas. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the materials of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy.
“Regarding Turkmen gas, we inform that at present no decision has been made on this issue, negotiations are underway with the Turkmen party”, as indicated in materials of the Ministry of Energy published on the E-Government portal.
For the time being, gasification of the capital will be performed by means of Kazakh gas, the ministry specified.
“In 2021, the gas supply is planned through the Saryarka gas pipeline in the amount of about 300 million cubic meters”, adds the Ministry of Energy. During a trip to Turkmenistan in September, head of Kazakh government Askar Mamin informed that Kazakhstan was considering the possibility of purchasing Turkmen gas for the domestic market.
Turkmenistan, in terms of natural gas reserves, ranks fourth in the world after Russia, Iran and Qatar.
