On 4 April President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov once again met with Mark Von Pentz, the Head of Agricultural and Turf Equipment Division of John Deere Company.
Berdymukhammedov emphasized that “in recent years great emphasis in Turkmenistan has been placed on building up the potential of the agricultural sector and John Deere is actively involved in joint agricultural projects”.
Later the same day Mark Von Pentz signed the agreement between John Deer, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Water Economy and the Turkmen Agricultural University to develop bilateral cooperation in educational for the period from 2018 to 2021.
Pursuant to the document, the sides will work together to improve educational practices committed to modernizing and upgrading the country’s agricultural sector, the state information agency TDH reported.
Then the Turkmen Agricultural University hosted a presentation of the agricultural equipment samples which was accompanied by traditional festivities.
The restructuring of the agricultural industry was reviewed by President Berdymukhammedov at the meeting held on 20 February with the Chief Operating Officer for the Asia Pacific region at CNH Industrial Stefano Pampalone.
It should be noted that over the past year the President has been constantly expressing discontent with the performance of Turkmenistan’s agricultural complex and undertaking measures to improve the situation in agriculture.
For example, on 9 December 2017 Berdymukhammedov called for allocating plots of land to government agencies to grow agricultural produce and on 19 January instructed to attract the private business in the agricultural sector to ensure profitability of farming and agriculture.
