January-May: Retail Trade in Turkmenistan Increases by 11.1%

The volume of retail trade in Turkmenistan increased by 11.1 percent in January-May this year compared to the same period last year, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers for Economic and Financial Affairs Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported during the regular online Cabinet meeting on Friday.

According to Turkmenistan's official media, the vice premier noted that wages at large and medium-sized enterprises in the country increased by 10.4 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

The report indicated that during the same period, the volume of capital investments from all sources of financing rose by 17.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

Geldimyradov highlighted that the period under review saw the construction of 52 social facilities, 32 water treatment plants, 480.8 thousand square meters of housing, and engineering systems.

Emphasizing that salaries, pensions, state benefits, and student scholarships were financed on time, the Head of Turkmenistan instructed the vice premier to continue activities necessary to maintain the stability of the macroeconomic indicators of the national economy.

The meeting also reviewed the results of the work of the national economy sectors for the first five months of this year.
