January-July: Turkmenistan Increases Watermelon Exports Ninefold

Currently, the melon-watermelon harvesting season continues in our country.Looking at the abundance of food in the country's markets, it can be seen that this year, along with other vegetable and garden products, melons and watermelons have a particularly good harvest.

Turkmen businessmen achieve high performance in exporting these agricultural products.In 2024, the majority of the agricultural products exported abroad are watermelons and melons.

Over the first 7 months of this year, the volume of watermelon exports has increased 10-fold compared to the total volume of exports for the whole of 2022 and 9-fold compared to the total volume of melon exports for 2023.

The main importers of our watermelons in 2024 were the Russian Federation and the State of Qatar. 62% of the total volume of exported watermelons were sent to the Russian Federation and 38% to the State of Qatar.

Turkmen melons are also popular in foreign markets.The comparative growth in exports is clear evidence of this.Thus, the export of melons for the seven months of the current year exceeded the total volume of melon exports for 2022 by 1.2 times and by 1.4 times for 2023.

A significant part of the melon exports for the months of January-July 2024 was carried out to the Russian Federation, which is 79% of all exports.The Republic of Kazakhstan is also among the main countries importing Turkmen melons.
