James Cameron says he has no plans to make a series based on the tragedy of the bathyscaphe “Titan”

Hollywood film director, “Titanic” creator James Cameron has announced on his social media page that he has no plans to make a TV series about the “Titan” bathyscaphe that sank near the “Titanic” wreck, Film.ru reports.

“I usually don’t respond to offensive rumors on social media, but now I have to. I am not in talks for an OceanGate movie and never will be”, - the director said.

Rumors about Cameron's intention to shoot a feature series based on the tragedy of the bathyscaphe “Titan” began to spread the British tabloid The Sun. They even named actor Matt Damon as a contender for one of the main roles.

Bathyscaphe “Titan” with five crew members on board June 18 went to the place where the remains of the liner “Titanic” lie at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

A little over an hour after the dive, the bathyscaphe stopped communicating.After finding the wreckage of the apparatus, it turned out that during the dive, the body of the bathyscaphe could not withstand the pressure of the water and collapsed, all five people who were inside died.
