On October 28, the Magtymguly Turkmen Music and Drama Theater will host a concert to celebrate the 96th anniversary of Turkey establishing itself as a republic.The event is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of Turkey.
Accomplished opera singers Filiz Güneş (soprano), Oğuz Çimen (tenor) and famous pianist Tuğçe Doruk, who are members of the Izmir State Opera and Ballet, will be performing on stage with the State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Rasul Klychev.
The evening of music will feature extracts from operas by Turkish composers and the best pieces of Turkmen classical music.The concert will commence at 6 pm.Meet the guests from Turkey.
Filiz Güneş, who has a velvety soprano voice, was born in Izmir.She studied at the State Conservatory of Music in Izmir, and then made her operatic debut singing the part of Fiordiligi in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera Così fan tutte’ (All Women Do the Same) at the Izmir State Opera and Ballet, where at first she performed as a guest artist, and has been a principal singer since 2013.
Feliz’s fellow opera singer, tenor Oğuz Çimen, is also an alumnus of the State Conservatory of Music in Izmir.He had training in Italy under the guidance of Professor Antonio Marseno.
Thanks to his impressive vocal range and artistic versatility, Oğuz sings lead roles at the Izmir State Opera and Ballet, also taking part in concerts and music festivals.Pianist Tuğçe Doruk studied at the Ankara State Conservatory, and then continued her musical education in Izmir.
She attended a master class led by renowned American pianist Martin Berkofsky.As a pianist with Izmir Barok’, an ensemble performing Baroque music, Tuğçe toured all over Turkey, Europe and the US.
Now working at the Izmir State Opera and Ballet, the pianist also regularly performs chamber music together with her husband violinist Hakan Özaytekin.
