During an online meeting held on May 27, Ombudsman Yazdursun Gurbannazarova and the Secretariat of the Subcommittee on Accreditation in the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) discussed issues of accreditation of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan in GANHRI.
Issues of promoting further strengthening of the institutional capacity of the Ombudsman's Office in accordance with the Paris Principles were also considered.
To achieve the goal of accreditation to the GANHRI, the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan works closely with a number of international partners, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
According to the Strategic Plan for 2024-2028, the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan is tasked with preparing and submitting an application to the GANHRI for accreditation with the support of the Asia-Pacific Forum of
National Human Rights Institutions (APF), UN structural units and other partners, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
