Iran to Daily Import 10 mcm of Turkmen Natural Gas

Iran will import around 10 million cubic meters of natural gas per day from Turkmenistan, Mehr news agency reported, citing the Petroleum Minister of Iran Javad Owji as informing journalists on the sidelines of the meeting with Batyr Amanov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, on Tuesday in Tehran.

According to the Iranian official, the import of gas is scheduled to start this month as per the contract that Iran will soon sign with Turkmenistan.

The supply of the natural gas in the northeast of Iran is expected to be increased with the import of gas from Turkmenistan, he further noted.

On Tuesday, Minister of Energy of Iran Ali Akbar Mehrabian informed that Turkmenistan and Iran will increase the volume of electricity swaps to 1,000 MW.
