Iran’s railway transit to Turkmenistan via Serakhs increased by 35%

Mostafa Nassiri, Director General of the Khorasan Railway (IRI), after the opening of the railway connection between Iran and Turkmenistan through Serakhs station late in June, said that Iran’s rail transit to Turkmenistan has increased 35%.

According to him, from July to the end of December, this year, in total 200,000 tons of cargo arrived in Iran as an incoming transit through the Serakhs station from Turkmenistan, and more than 90% of them were transported to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, and the rest to the city of Mirjaveh on the border with Pakistan.

Iran is one of the largest economic partners for Turkmenistan, in cooperation with which dozens of major projects have been implemented or are at the stage of implementation, being of priority importance for strengthening of bilateral mutually beneficial relations.
