Iran ready to transit gas from Turkmenistan to neighboring countries

A meeting between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for Oil and Gas Shahym Abdrahmanov was held in Ashgabat, reports Mehr.

During his visit to Ashgabat, Safari stressed that Iran is ready to increase cooperation with Turkmenistan in the oil and gas sector.

Noting the successful experience of transiting gas from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan through Iran, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to transit gas from Turkmenistan and to other neighboring states.

Safari also emphasized that Iran has high economic opportunities in the field of export of technical and engineering services, and industrial goods to Turkmenistan. And it can also provide Turkmenistan with access to the southern ports of Iran - Bandar Abbas and Chabahar.

In his turn, Abdrahmanov stressed the necessity of using the opportunities for cooperation and trade between the two states.
