Iran opposes the construction of gas pipelines in the Caspian Sea

RIA Novosti reports that an official of the National Iran Gas Company (NIGC) Behrouz Namdari, speaking at the Caspian Economic Forum in Avaza, said that Iran opposes the construction of gas pipelines in the Caspian Sea.

“The construction of a gas pipeline from the east to the west of the Caspian Sea might cause severe damage to the region’s environment… Iran opposes its construction”, Namdari was quoted as saying by the Russian news outlet.

The NIGC representatives offered its neighbours to use its infrastructure facilities to supply gas to the world markets.
