Iran imports 140 megawatts of electricity from Turkmenistan

Iran imports 140 megawatts of electricity from Turkmenistan to meet domestic needs. This was stated by the representative of the Ministry of Energy of the country, Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, Iran.ru reports.

In accordance with the representative, the electricity imported from Turkmenistan will meet the needs of some part of the Horasan region (north-east of Iran).

According to the managing director of Tehran Electricity Distribution Company, about 3,000 MW is added to electricity generation in Iran every year, but a decrease in precipitation and water accumulation behind dams has led to a decrease in electricity generation.
