Iran and Turkmenistan have reached an agreement to reduce transit tariffs and continue efforts to simplify cargo transportation procedures between the two countries, the Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Gholam Abbas Arbab-Khalas said during the interview with TASS news agency.
In the interview published on Saturday, the Iranian envoy confirmed that Iran is currently negotiating with its Turkmen counterparts, and these negotiations are yielding positive results. Iran has already reduced transit tariffs to stimulate an increase in transit through both countries to third countries.
As part of the negotiations, Iran and Turkmenistan are also working on resolving issues related to the different legislations of the two countries and customs procedures.
Last month, representatives of Turkmen TULM and Iranian Vision Global Terminal companies had a meeting under the leadership of First Deputy Chairman of Uzbekistan's Temir Yollari Hikmatilla Rahmetov.
