The International Conference on recovery of transport links titled "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Connectivity and Development" kicked off in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on Monday.
Over 400 participants have registered for the conference, including 171 representatives of foreign companies and 87 representatives of local companies.While most of the participating companies and organizations operate mainly in the transportation and logistics sectors, other organizations and sectors from related fields will also be represented at the event.
The list of over 30 speakers includes representatives of prestigious local and international organizations and companies.
At the opening of the event, General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakiyev presented an address of President of Turkmen Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the participants.
"The formation of large international transit corridors at the crossroads of our country's transport routes, ensuring the efficiency of reliable energy and transport transportation, is aimed at achieving the goals of global sustainable development and is for the benefit of the peoples of the world,” President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said in his message.
“We will continue international cooperation on the development of transit corridors crossing the territory of our country, which will allow for progress and efficiency, including on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of ways of adressing urgent issues," the Head of Turkmenistan added.
The two-day conference is organized on the initiative of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.The main organizers of the conference are Türkmendemirýollary" (Turkmen Railways), Turkmenawtoulaglary (Turkmen Road Transport), Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) and Türkmenhowaýollary (Turkmenistan Airlines) agencies, and the company Transport and Logistics Centre of Turkmenistan (TULM).
The co-organizers of the conference are the Turkmen Forum and Turkmen Logistics Association.
