International Conference on Hydrocarbon Production’s Environmental Aspects Starts in Ashgabat

International Scientific Conference “Environmental aspects in the production of hydrocarbon resources” kicked off in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on Thursday.

The event is organized by the Türkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) and Türkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) state concerns, in partnership with the Turkmen Forum and the UK-based GaffneyCline.

The international forum discusses the environment aspects in the development of hydrocarbon resources and the ways to reduce emissions during the process.

The conference additionally features discussions of international and domestic experts on the effects of hydrocarbon production on the environment, transition to the new era of energy, hydrogen’s future, ways to reduce methane and CO2 emissions, new environmental/climate change funding opportunities.

Turkmenistan’s hydrocarbon reserves equal more than 71 billion tons in oil equivalent, of which more than 20 billion tons are oil and more than 50 trillion cubic meters are natural gas. This makes Turkmenistan the fourth largest holder of natural gas reserves after Russia, Iran and Qatar.
