On May 2, the International Conference “Climate Change - Challenges and Solutions for Sustainable Energy” was held in the city of Turkmenbashy with the participation of about 70 delegates from Turkmenistan, representatives of UNDP, the European Union (EU) and other Central Asian (CA) countries.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss strategies for the development of sustainable energy and exchange best practices in this area.
Delegates from different countries and organizations presented their experience in implementing sustainable energy policies.
UNDP experts shared knowledge on the use of solid waste for the production of electricity and heat and discussed initiatives for waste-free production.
The conference was one of the events held within the framework of the joint initiative “Sustainable Energy Days in Turkmenistan”, organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project “Sustainable Cities in
Turkmenistan: Integrated Development of Green Cities in Ashgabat and Avaza” and a project funded by the European Union (EU ) “Sustainable Energy Connections in Central Asia (SECCA)”, by the Ministry of Energy of
Turkmenistan and the hyakimlik of the city of Turkmenbashy, with the assistance of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.
