International Civil Aviation Day is annually marked on December 7. In 1992 the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) which became its initiator, adopted a resolution to proclaim December 7 of each year, from 1994, International Civil Aviation Day.
As occasion to choose the date served the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (known as the Chicago Convention, 1944) served. It had established its main principles, allowing carrying out international transportation by air transport.
“Türkmenhowaýollary” agency (Turkmenistan Airlines) a flagman carrier of Turkmenistan and according to official figures is the safest airline of Asia.
In recent years the development of the air transport of Turkmenistan is characterised by an accruing intensification. It is promoted to a great extent by realisation of the National program of development of civil aviation of Turkmenistan for 2012-2030 in the country developed on the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
In April, 1993 Turkmenistan became a full member of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Now the national air park of Turkmenistan Airlines is made up basically of aircrafts of the make Boeing, and annually their number replenishes with new modern air liners.
Air harbours of Turkmenistan have a favourable economic-geographical position for transit flights, and also for technical landings and corresponding service of planes that makes their role important links of the international system of transport communications connecting the countries and continents.
Turkmenistan carries out all its undertaken obligations within the limits of the international conventions regulating activity of civil aircraft, strictly observes the international standards of safety of the airports and flights of aircrafts, formations of crews and ground personnel.
In this plan cooperation with ICAO which is a specialized agency of the United Nations Organization, has a special significance.Together with its experts the work on all components of management of airports and air traffic is conducted.
On a planned basis working meetings and consultation on the advanced world practice of application of standards of aviation safety, introduction of modern technologies and others are held.
This constructive and system interaction yields weighty results and allows to expand contacts with other international structures in the given sphere.
Active partnership relations have been established and with ЕАСА European Aviation Safety Agency. Regular mutual visits of delegations are exchanged, aviation experts of Turkmenistan are presented at large forums of ICAO and ЕАСА, experts of which highly appreciate the work on safety of flights of Turkmen airlines, and also technical equipment of the airports carried out in our country.
The qualitative growth reached by the transport-communication sector of Turkmen economy in the sphere of air transport, makes a positive impact on the role of the country role as large international logistical centre which positively influences formation of tendencies of modern geopolitical and geoeconomic development.
