The industrial map of S. Turkmenbashi etrap in Balkan Velayat rapidly changes. A powerful industrial cluster develops there, in particular in the Kiyanly settlement, where new industrial objects were built and put into operation, creating hundreds of new jobs.
Among them, there is a marine terminal for the storage and shipment of liquefied hydrocarbons with a seaport for transit shipments. The innovative gas technology facility was built using the advanced technologies, computer control of gas storage facilities and other industrial infrastructure facilities.
The terminal is designed for receiving 3000 tons of commercial gas and annual shipment of 200,000 tons of high-quality commercial gas.
The production facilities of the land gas terminal and the plant on gas conditioning, produced by the Petronas Malaysian company in the shelf are of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea are located nearby the marine gas terminal.
Both Petronas facilities were opened in July 2011 with the participation of the Turkmen leader. There is a workshop for assembling marine structures on the territory of the gas processing complex.
The shipyard continues the installation of the offshore platforms for drilling and gas gathering.A breakwater protected port and specialized water crafts are used to transport the assembled sections.
The integrated object is completely autonomous. It includes warehouses and supply bases, hangars and parking for trucks, cranes and caterpillar vehicles, substations, boiler houses, water tanks, a campus, a training centre, a sports club and other objects of technical and social infrastructure.
The major part of specialists employed with the Petronas Company are our compatriots, who studied at the enterprise and in the educational institutions in Malaysia.Since the beginning of the industrial production of oil, associated gas and natural gas in 2009, Petronas has proved itself as a reliable supplier of natural gas in Turkmenistan.
Deliveries of commodity gas in the company are estimated in billions of cubic meters per year and are characterized by stable growth rates.
The powerful raw materials base, the energy and transport infrastructure determined the choice of the Kyyanly settlement to house another large gas processing complex.
On September 10, 2013, the President of Turkmenistan signed the Resolution "On Financing the Construction of the Gas Chemical Complex for the Production of Polyethylene and Polypropylene in Balkan Velayat". According to the environmental standards, the construction site was located in the open steppe away from industrial facilities, operating on the coast of the Kiyanly Bay.
The ceremony of laying the foundation of a new enterprise with the annual capacity of 386,000 tons of polyethylene and 81,000 tons of granulated polypropylene was held on April 22, 2014.
For the past three years and a half, the tremendous amount of work has been done.By today, an absolute majority of installations and engineering structures have been erected.
About 1200 new jobs will be created at this enterprise.
Another high-tech gas chemical complex - a carbamide production plant will be built in the city of Garabogaz, located to the north of the gas processing facilities in Kiyanly. The enterprise that will create 900 new jobs, will produce more than 1.150 million tons of highly concentrated nitrogen fertilizer and 640,000 tons of ammonia annually.
The plant is built in strict observance of licensed technologies on environmental protection. The ecological aspect is one of the most important at all stages of construction and operation of the complex.
The choice of place was dictated by many factors, including the mineral wealth of Garabogazgol, the world's storehouse of almost all known chemical elements.Natural gas will be used as a source of raw materials and the main energy resource for the production of carbamide.
The production scheme of the gas chemical complex consistently includes the technological facilities for the production of ammonia and carbamide, the warehouses for storing finished products in hermetically sealed containers: 10,000-ton containers for ammonia and 10,000-ton containers for carbamide.
Two gas turbine power stations with a total capacity of 60 MW, a seawater desalination plant, a shop for packing and shipping commodity products, and other infrastructure facilities will be built in the industrial zone of the enterprise.
Fertilizers will be shipped mainly to foreign consumers by rail, road transport and sea vessels.
Hundreds of young engineers, who received education in the leading universities of Japan, are engaged in the construction, and the workers successfully master the professions in practice and improve qualification during the trainings, organized by the construction management.
A residential complex will be built for 3.500 employees of the enterprise.Over time, it will turn into a small city with modern social facilities.
The construction of a carbamide plant will have a positive impact on the economic development of the city of Garabogaz and the Garabogazsulfate production association, operating on its territory.
Based on the volume and value of raw materials, the Garabogazgol Bay is the largest source of sulfates and chlorides of sodium and magnesium. In the future, it is planned to use these materials to manufacture products that are of great demand in world markets.
The chemical industry occupies an important place in the economic policy implemented by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The huge reserves of natural gas provide vast opportunities for the construction of high-profit enterprises of the chemical industry, which, in turn, encourage the industrial and innovative movement at all azimuths of the country's economic development.
The commissioning of the carbamide plant in the city of Garabogaz and the gas processing plant for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene in Kiyanly is scheduled for June and September 2018, respectively.
However, the creation of the industrial cluster in the north of the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea will continue. It is planned to launch the project for the construction of another gas chemical complex near Kiyanli, designed to process two billion cubic meters of natural gas per year and 117,000 tons of Garabagaz sodium chloride.
This raw material will be used to produce a wide range of high-value chemical products, including polypropylene, polyvinylchloride, caustic soda, hydrochloric acid and other chemical products.
