Industrial development of lunar resources expected after 2040

According to the forecasts of "Roscosmos" General Director Yuri Borisov, humanity will begin the industrial development of the Moon’s resources after the 2040s. He voiced this information at the “Territory of Meanings” forum, "RIA Novosti" reports.

Borisov noted that the lunar surface is rich in rare earth metals and helium, and their concentration exceeds that on Earth. These resources are of significant interest for future space missions and industrial use.

To provide energy for mining equipment and other systems on the Moon, Russia is developing a nuclear power plant.
