FIFA has deprived Indonesia of the right to host the Youth (under 20) World Cup in 2023, the organization's press service reports.
The decision was made following a meeting between the president of the International Football Federation, Gianni Infantino, and the head of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Eric Tahir.
The tournament was to be held in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11, 2023. 24 teams must take part in the championship, including Indonesia as the host country.
The new tournament organizer will be announced later. Tournament dates remain unchanged for the time being.
The current world champion among youth teams is the Ukrainian team.
The FIFA Youth World Cup will be attended by Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, USA, Fiji, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, New Zealand, England, France, Israel, Italy, Slovakia, Gambia, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Iraq, Japan, Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
