Within the framework of the celebration of the 100th anniversary from the day of birth of Rasul Gamzatov, a square will be named in honor of the poet in Saint Petersburg, which is located in the Kalininkiy district of the cultural capital of Russia, “MIR24” reports.
“Taking into account the contribution of Rasul Gamzatov to the national culture, our common task is to organize work at the highest level, to make this holiday to be a notable event not only for Dagestan, but for the whole of Russia”, said the Vice-Premier of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova during the work of the organizational committee for the preparation of the holiday devoted to the 100th anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov.
The Committee also approved an Action plan for the preparation and celebration of festive jubilee of the poet, which included 42 events.The main part of the events is planned for the coming year.
The key events will be the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov at home in Mahachkala, also in Moscow at the State Kremlin Palace.
Rasul Gamzatov was born on September 8, 1922. Collections of his poems have been translated into dozens of languages around the world.
