Implemantation of TAPI Gas Pipeline Project Considered in Ashgabat Meeting

Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Artur Andrysiak, the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) new Country Director for Turkmenistan, in a meeting on Thursday in Ashgabat paid special attention to the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project in the context of the development of regional and international energy cooperation.

The parties exchanged views on the current state of relations between Turkmenistan and the ADB, and their prospects, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in its press release.

The sides also identified energy, industry, transport, trade, banking sector and several other areas as areas of joint cooperation.

Artur Andrysiak, the ADB’s new Country Director for Turkmenistan, arrived in Ashgabat in early June. He previously served as ADB's Deputy Country Director for Afghanistan.
