In Turkmenistan, projects are being implemented in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea to search for new promising areas for oil and gas production.
As per “Turkmenistan; Golden Age”, now in the Gogerendag-Ekerem gas and oil-bearing area of this zone, specialists of the Balkan Geophysical expedition of the SC “Turkmengeologiya” are conducting 2D, 3D seismic exploration and gravimetric work.
As it was reported previously, last year SC “Turkmengeologiya” signed a contract with the Singapore company “Yug-Neftegaz Private Limited” to conduct 3D seismic exploration in the eastern part of the Goturdepe field and 2D seismic exploration in the Southern Burun area of the Pribalkhansk oil and gas region.
This year, it is planned to start work on these difficult sections of the coastal zone, which will open up new prospects for further exploration of gas and oil-bearing territories.
In the Gogerendag-Ekerem gas-oil-bearing area on the squares of Akpatlauk, Keymir, Ekerem, Gamyshlyja, Western Korpeje, Mashhad, Garadashli; in the Gyzylgum gas-oil-bearing area on the squares of Ordekli and Uzynada; in the Pribalkan oil and gas-bearing area on the squares of Northern Goturdepe, Barsagelmez and Southern Kelkor, exploration expeditions of Balkan, Lebap and Mary velayats execute drilling operations.
The aim of the works is the supplementary exploration of lower parts of Pleiocen red beds, Miocene prospecting works (supplementary exploration), and in the prospect the guidance of drilling operations to deeper horizons of the Mesozoic.
It is expected that the works on search and exploration of areas and deposits of this zone will provide additional surplus of oil and gas condensate reserves, the source notes.
