Hungary is interested in natural gas supplies from Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó said on his social media account.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister arrived in Ashgabat on Thursday with the delegation of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

"We are interested in building the infrastructure for Turkmen natural gas to be included in the European and Hungarian energy sectors," Peter Szijjártó said.

Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Ashgabat on Thursday, the official Turkmen media reported.

The sides discussed the prospects of increasing collaboration in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

The Turkmen side noted that Turkmenistan, with its vast natural gas reserves, is open to mutually beneficial cooperation and ready for a more detailed discussion of this topic.

Bilateral documents on cooperation in several areas are expected to be signed following the meeting between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
