Humanity is facing an epidemic of hearing problems

Researchers from a number of countries have predicted massive hearing problems among the inhabitants of the planet because of the love of loud music in headphones or at concerts, writes Mail.ru.

Scientists estimate that deafness could threaten approximately 1,35 billion people. From 2000 to 2021, 33 studies were conducted, in which more than 19 thousand people from 12 to 34 years old took part. 24% of respondents indicated that they like to listen to music on headphones at high volume, 48% were fans of concerts with noisy music.

Harmful to hearing is considered music with a loudness of 80 decibels (for comparison: 80 decibels is the noise level of a freight train at a distance of 15 meters from it or a motorcycle with a silencer), which is listened to for more than 40 hours a week.

Scientists have come to the conclusion that the habit of regularly listening to too loud music, with or without headphones, sooner or later will lead to hearing loss.
