Greenhouses become one of the most profitable directions of agriculture of Turkmenistan and thanks to it the country has essentially increased manufacture of vegetables.
For first two months of 2021 manufacture of vegetables as a whole in the country has made up 12 191 ton that has exceeded the level of the corresponding period of 2020 by 41,7 %, ORIENT was informed by the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan.
Especially impresses this indicator because last winter was one of the coldest for many years. It once again confirms what important contribution to development of the domestic food market brings development of greenhouse economy. Thus, the majority of hothouses in the country are built by businessmen that underline their key role in national economy development.
According to the State Statistics Committee, for January, 2021 for export 8,2 thousand vegetables for the sum of 8,9 million US dollars were sent and as compare with January, 2020 it is higher by 15,5 % and 20,3 %, accordingly. The basic share in export of vegetables is occupied with tomatoes (97,8 %).
Simultaneously with it in hothouses manufacture of lemons has increased. They were gathered in January 116 tons that by 14,5 % higher as compared with the first month of 2020.
Development of hothouse economy goes on in Turkmenistan with active support of the state. National banks allocate to the private sector easy term loans for building of greenhouses. At the expense of these funds businessmen buy the latest hothouse equipment and materials thanks to what their hothouses correspond to the highest quality standards.
The increase in harvest of vegetables should lower gradually their cost for consumers. Greenhouses also do fresh vegetable production accessible all year long that is pledge of health and longevity of the population of the country.
Notable achievements of the private sector in the sphere of hothouse building testify that the given sphere of agriculture in Turkmenistan actively develops and opens to business new possibilities for growth.
