Head of Turkmenistan congratulated President of the Philippines on Independence Day

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent sincere congratulations to President of the Republic of the Philippines Rodrigo Roa Duterte and all the people of the country on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of the Philippines.

Taking the opportunity, the head of Turkmenistan expressed heartfelt wishes of good health and happiness to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and to the people of the Philippines peace, well-being and prosperity, the Information Program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported.

Independence Day is a public holiday of the Philippines, celebrated annually on June 12 in honor of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of the Philippines from Spain on June 12, 1898. It was a national holiday of the Philippines from 1962.

Independence Day was originally celebrated on July 4, the day the Philippines achieved independence from the United States in 1946. The date was chosen by the US leadership. In 1964, Philippine President Diosdado Macapagal changed the date of the holiday to June 12.
