On March 10, 2021, online meeting was held within the "UNODC-WCO Container Control Programme (CCP)" with the Head of the Regional Office for Central Asia of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Ms.
Ashita Mittal in the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.The Regional Coordinator of the Program Mr.B.Geldiyev and the National Coordinator Mr.Chary Atayev also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, issues of further cooperation were discussed, and handover ceremony of equipment for preliminary customs information was also held.The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has been interacting with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime for many years.
Over the years of cooperation, a number of joint projects have been implemented, among which the Container Control Programme deserves special attention, within the framework of which a lot has been done: Port Control Groups were established at the International Customs Terminal and the seaport of the city of Turkmenbashi in order to conduct a systematic analysis of containers of increased risk in order to detect drug trafficking and other illegal activities and to facilitate the legitimate trade at the same time.
And the equipment transferred today will be used for the purposes of preliminary customs information, which should serve not only for the benefit of the development of economic relations in Turkmenistan, but also for all countries in the region.
In conclusion, the parties stressed their readiness to continue mutually beneficial relations.
