Hammer thrower Mergen Mammedov is the Vice-champion of track and field tournament in Almaty

Turkmen athletes have won three prizes including one silver and two bronze medals during the international track-and-field tournament held recently in Almaty (Kazakhstan). Our compatriots were successful in the hammer throwing and 4x400 meter relay.

The vice-champion was Mergen Mammedov, who threw a hammer to a distance of 65 meters 71 centimeters. Yielding 50 cm to his teammate, participant in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) Amanmyrat Hommadov rose the third step of the podium.

Turkmen athletes won another bronze medal in the 4x400 meter relay among women. Our team composed of Valentina Meredova, Elena Ryabova, Guljan Ashyrmyradova and Yulduzay Kishikova covered this distance in 4 minutes 22.05 seconds.
