Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Starts Visit to Iran

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran on Tuesday on a working visit, the official Turkmen media reports.

Upon arrival at the international airport of Tehran, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was greeted by government officials of Iran and members of the Turkmen delegation.

At the airport, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Construction Mehrdad Bazrpash. During the talks, the National Leader of the Turkmen people said that, while consistently pursuing a foreign policy based on the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, much attention is paid to developing effective cooperation with neighboring countries, including Iran.

The sides stated that the cooperation, which is successfully developing, is based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.

The officials also said the necessary efforts would be made to further intensify the main areas of mutually beneficial relations, and expressed confidence in the further successful development of the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, based on the principle of mutual friendship and good neighborly relations.
