Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Mintimer Shaimiev in Kazan

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, participating in the XV International Economic Forum “Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2024” in Kazan, met with State Councilor of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, TDH reports.

The head of the highest body of people's power of Turkmenistan highly appreciated the successful development of Tatarstan in various areas and the growing authority of the republic in the international arena.

During the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished the success of the KazanForum and all events aimed at revealing the trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural potential of Russia’s interaction with the Islamic world.

Mintimer Shaimiev noted the relevance of the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to develop the “Islamic Initiative for Peace, Mutual Understanding and Trust” and the advisability of its nomination at the session of the UN General Assembly in the form of an official document.

The interlocutors emphasized the effectiveness of Turkmen-Tatarstan cooperation in various industries, including oil and gas, shipbuilding, chemical industry, supply of aircraft and automobiles.

The productivity of the partnership in the cultural and humanitarian sphere was especially noted, where numerous Turkmen students receive education at universities in Tatarstan. The parties expressed confidence that the mutual enrichment of cultures will contribute to the further deepening of bilateral relations.
