The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Thursday, during his visit to Dushanbe, met with Rustam Emomali, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Republic of Tajikistan, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.
Rustam Emomali highlighted the significant contribution made by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation among the Central Asian states. He praised the National Leader's role in promoting the dynamic development of Tajik-Turkmen relations and the strategic partnership.
Acknowledging the ample opportunities for enhancing cooperation, Rustam Emomali expressed confidence that the practical implementation of agreements reached during the current official visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people would give a new impetus to inter-parliamentary contacts.
In turn, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted the consistent development of contacts between their countries, with special emphasis on the role of national parliaments in this process. He highlighted Turkmenistan's active position in promoting parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties.
Both parties emphasized the significant achievements made in recent years through the joint efforts of the parliaments of both countries, particularly highlighting the role of parliamentary friendship groups. They highly appreciated the work of these structures, considering them important and effective instruments for enhancing mutual understanding between the fraternal peoples.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Turkmenistan’s National Leader thanked Rustam Emomali, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli, for his active participation and significant personal contribution to the enhancement of bilateral cooperation.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, participated in a joint concert titled "Evening of Friendship" held at the Kohi Borbad Concert Hall in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
