Today, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Magtymguly Fragi, erected in a picturesque corner of Kopetdag. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
The ceremony was also attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, the mayor of Ashgabat, representatives of the Halk Maslahaty and the national parliament of the country, leaders and representatives of political parties, public organizations, ministries and departmental governing bodies, diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan and international organizations, and student youth.
The monument to Magtymguly Fragi was built in the southern part of the city on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and thanks to the efforts of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
2024 has been declared the year of the “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi” in Turkmenistan.The collection of manuscripts by Magtymguly Fragi has been included in the International Register of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program.
In addition, the list of significant dates to be celebrated jointly with UNESCO in 2024-2025 includes the 300th anniversary of the poet's birth.The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) has declared 2024 the “Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World - Magtymguly Fragi”.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, put forward initiatives to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the poet-thinker’s birth at the highest level and popularize the poet’s works, which have become a universal value, the source notes.
