On Thursday in Ashgabat, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, inaugurated a monument dedicated to Kazakh poet, philosopher, and musician Abai Qunanbaiuly.
According to Turkmenistan’s official media, the unveiling ceremony was attended by government members, honored elders, heads of ministries and agencies, as well as cultural and media representatives.
In his congratulatory speech, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty announced that President Serdar Berdimuhamedov had decided to award the Jubilee Medal of Turkmenistan “In Honor of the 300th Anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy” to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The award was presented to the Kazakh leader during the ceremony.
According to the press service of Kazakhstan's President, Tokayev's official visit to Turkmenistan began with a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. President Tokayev expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and praised Berdimuhamedov’s significant contributions to strengthening Kazakh-Turkmen relations.
Tokayev added that the relationship between the two nations continues to flourish in a spirit of friendship, good neighborliness, and mutual support.
In response, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov welcomed the Kazakh leader and expressed confidence that the agreements reached during the visit would further deepen cooperation between the countries.
The two leaders also discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation, including political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian issues.
Additionally, President Tokayev laid a wreath at the Monument of Independence of Turkmenistan.
The Kazakh leader’s visit coincides with his participation in the international forum "Connection of Times and Civilizations The Foundation of Peace and Development," set to take place on October 11 in Ashgabat, commemorating the 300th anniversary of the poet Magtymguly Pyragy.
