The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a telephone conversation with Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko on Wednesday, the official Turkmen media reports.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty extended congratulations to the Speaker of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament on the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Federal Assembly and the adoption of the Constitution of Russia.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty also congratulated the Speaker of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament on her reelection as the Chairman of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
At the same time, both parties emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation in the humanitarian field and fostering people-to-people diplomacy. They expressed confidence in their commitment to creating opportunities that would further enhance friendship between the nations of Turkmenistan and Russia, promote the development of their close ties, and strengthen mutual respect and trust.
The Speaker of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament, on her part, assured of Russia's unwavering dedication to further deepening the strategic bilateral partnership.
During the discussion on bilateral relations, both parties emphasised the importance of enhancing trade and economic cooperation, as well as promoting interaction in the social and cultural fields.
At the end of the conversation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, congratulated Valentina Matviyenko on the New Year and wished her good health, prosperity and success in her responsible state activity.
