Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban

Today, in the building of the Administration of the Halk Maslahaty, negotiations were held between the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a two-day official visit, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

As the head of the highest representative body of the people's power of Turkmenistan emphasized, he fondly reminds his visit to Hungary in June 2014, during which a Joint Statement was adopted that determined the contours of the Turkmen-Hungarian partnership, and considers it important to continue to maintain regular contacts at the highest level, as they give impetus to bilateral cooperation in various fields.

During the conversation, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the Head of the Government of the friendly country exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the further development of the Turkmen-Hungarian partnership in the widest range of areas of mutual interest.

Noting the importance of the upcoming meeting tomorrow with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, following which bilateral documents on cooperation in a number of areas will be signed, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that the Turkmen-Hungarian partnership today has very good prospects for expanding joint activities in political, diplomatic, trade and economic and cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Particular attention was focused on certain important areas.

Thus, in the political and diplomatic sphere, according to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, it is necessary to continue the interaction of foreign ministries in order to coordinate efforts to promote the initiatives of Turkmenistan and Hungary in the international arena, primarily within the framework of the UN and other authoritative organizations, in the name of world peace and the well-being of mankind.

The trade and economic sphere was identified as the second important area of the Turkmen-Hungarian partnership. Promising areas include trade, energy, industrial cooperation, logistics, agriculture and the private sector.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that tomorrow these and other areas of bilateral cooperation will be discussed in more detail and an algorithm for developing an effective partnership will be developed.

Speaking about energy, which is the foundation of any economy, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty noted the coincidence of the positions of the two countries on the issue of reliable and stable transit of energy resources and its role in ensuring sustainable development and international cooperation.

According to him, Turkmenistan, which occupies a favorable geographical position, also attaches great importance to cooperation in the transport sector, expanding the associated communication infrastructure and creating transit and transport corridors, primarily in the “East-West” direction.

Another key vector of partnership was healthcare, in particular the pharmaceutical industry, taking into account the extensive experience of Hungary, which is one of the twenty largest exporters of pharmaceutical products in the world.

In this regard, a proposal was made to establish joint production facilities in Turkmenistan for the production of medicines and medical devices.

Expressing confidence in the further successful continuation of the established Turkmen-Hungarian dialogue, taking into account the existing opportunities for building up a fruitful partnership in various areas, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed the readiness of the Turkmen side to implement new joint projects.
