During a telephone conversation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed further strengthening of friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey.
As reported by TDH, the parties noted the importance of the upcoming events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the great poet Magtymguly Fragi, and expressed mutual wishes for success in holding the international forum in Ashgabat.
During the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that the fraternal Turkmen-Turkish relations are enriched with new content.They exchanged views on the importance of cultural and spiritual ties between the peoples of the two countries.
Erdogan noted that Turkey is watching the celebrations dedicated to the anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi with great interest and wished the international forum in Ashgabat a successful outcome.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the wishes and noted that Erdogan has made a significant contribution to the study and popularization of the creative heritage of Magtymguly Fragi.He also said that the President of Turkmenistan is awarding Erdogan with the jubilee medal “Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna” for his services in strengthening friendship and brotherhood between the Turkmen and Turkish peoples.
During the conversation, the interlocutors noted the long-term, strategic nature of interstate relations, emphasizing that their expansion is facilitated by the linguistic, cultural and spiritual community of peoples. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also mentioned the recent meeting with the Chairman of the World Ethnosport Confederation Bilal Erdogan, during which issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed satisfaction with the fact that the TURKSOY organization declared the current year “The Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World Magtymguly Fragi”, and the city of Anau the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024.
He also noted the importance of the installation of the monument to Magtymguly in Ankara.
At the end of the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Turkmenistan at any time convenient for him and conveyed warm wishes on behalf of his wife Ogulgerek Berdimuhamedova to Erdogan’s wife Emine Erdogan. The leaders wished each other good health and happiness, and prosperity and well-being to the peoples of the two countries.
