In 2022, Germany issued 2206 Schengen visas to citizens of Turkmenistan and became the leader in this indicator.
According to the SchengenVisaInfo publication, in 2022, the citizens of Turkmenistan submitted 2660 applications for Schengen visas. Germany became the leader in the number of visas issued last year, having issued about 2206 documents at the consulate in Ashgabat. The Italian diplomatic mission approved 454 applications for a Schengen visa.
Approximately 7,6 million applications were received by authorized institutions in the Schengen area around the world.
A Schengen visa gives the right to stay in the territory of the Schengen countries (27 European states) for no more than 90 days during each 180-day period. Three countries that are part of the Schengen zone of the European Union have diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan, these are Germany, Italy and France.
As a foreign representation, the German Embassy in Ashgabat accepts visa applications only if: the applicant travels directly to Austria, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Estonia, Spain, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Finland, Sweden and the place of permanent residence of the applicant is Turkmenistan.
In accordance with the information on the official website of the French Embassy in Turkmenistan, to request short-term visas (less than three months) for the French metropolis, the submission of documents and the issuance of visas is carried out at the Italian Embassy in Ashgabat.
The Italian Embassy in Turkmenistan can only accept applications for Schengen visas to Italy or France.
