French city introduces Bitcoin payment in local stores

A revolution in retail payments has taken place in the Bordeaux suburb of Talence. Now 18 local stores accept bitcoins as a payment method. This innovation frees cryptocurrency owners from the need to first exchange them for cash, euro-pulse.ru reports.

The payment process is simple: buyers scan a QR code via a special app. Sellers instantly receive funds in euros at the current exchange rate.

According to Adan, an association of software developers, one in eight French people own cryptocurrency. However, most of them limit themselves to speculative transactions, not knowing other ways to use it. Talance's initiative aims to stimulate the use of cryptocurrency for the purchase of real goods and services.
