Forest fire engulfs residential area in Turkish Izmir

A major fire broke out in the popular resort town of Izmir, Türkiye, on Friday morning. Starting in a forested area, the fire quickly spread to nearby residential areas, "RIA Novosti" reports with reference to the İhlas news agency (İHA).

According to their data, the flames engulfed the Karsiyaka district, completely destroying several houses, despite the prompt response of numerous firefighters and medical teams.

Significant forces have been mobilized to fight the fire: 5 aircraft, 15 helicopters, 46 units of ground equipment, including 10 water trucks and 4 bulldozers. Four ground teams are also involved, coordinating actions from the air and on the ground.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. Rescue efforts are ongoing and authorities are making every effort to contain the fire and minimize damage.
