Foreign students studying at Russian universities and not having the opportunity to enter the country to continue their studies are not expelled from universities. This is reported by the Russian media.
In particular, the site “Vesti Voronezh” writes that at the beginning of December in the leading Voronezh universities there were no cases of expulsion of foreign students due to absence from classes. Other regional sites also report this.
In addition, RT, citing the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, reported that foreign students of Russian universities who cannot enter Russia amid the restrictions in force due to the pandemic will not be transferred to paid education.
In general, the impossibility for foreign students to come to the Russian Federation for education is a big problem, both for students and for the universities themselves.
According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov.
“One of the pain points is the training of foreign students, since more than 300 thousands of them study in Russian universities today, and about a third of them, for various reasons, cannot enter the Russian Federation,” the press service of the department quotes Falkov as saying.
He also noted that all countries faced the problematic issues related to the organization of the educational process, and the solutions are the same everywhere either universities are completely closed, and students are transferred to distance learning, or universities continue to work in a mixed format with compliance with increased requirements for sanitary and epidemiological control.
The minister also added that Russian universities have organized distance learning for foreign students, but due to the difference in time zones and the lack of a stable connection, it is not always possible to achieve the desired result.
“We understand the difficulties faced by foreign students. Today Russian universities are focused on individual work with each of them,” Falkov said.
He added that additional jobs have appeared in the dormitories where foreign students live, and the quality of the Internet has improved. Separately, there is work with foreign students who are abroad.
Earlier ORIENT reported that according to the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation, by the number of students who study at Russian universities under the bachelor’s program, the first three places were taken by Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, respectively.
