The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan carries out integrated work for development of cooperation with international organizations.At present time, practical measures are taken for realization of initiatives of Head of the State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for expansion of cooperation in this direction, which were made at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly and International Conference in Ashgabat on January 14 this year.
Vice-premier, Foreign Minister R.Meredov informed the President on work in this direction at the session of the Government on April 10.It was mentioned that expansion of cooperation with the UN European Economic Commission and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP) is an important aspect of development of relations with the United Nations.
In particular, special importance is paid to modernization of transport infrastructure in Eurasia as well as to creation and efficient operation of transit and transport corridors.In this context, it is proposed to hold working meeting with participation of representatives of ministries and profile departments of our country in cooperation with the UNECE on April 14 this year.
Its main purpose is to discuss joining of Turkmenistan to 8 international documents, which are aimed at strengthening of efficient partnership in transport sphere.Collaboration on climate change, environment protection, rational nature use and provision of ecological safety are the main vectors of cooperation with the UN and its structures.
Further development of the partnership with the UN Environment Programme, which headquarter is located in Nairobi (The Republic of Kenya) seems to be necessary for activation of contacts in this direction.
In this regard, it is proposed to appoint Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan under the UN in Geneva as Permanent Representative of our country under the UNEP, which will be actual measure for strengthening of cooperation in this large structure.
Important place is given to realization of the course toward expansion of trade and export potential of the country under the partnership with international organizations.Special attention in this case is paid to cooperation with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Special government commission has been formed up for study of subject of joining of Turkmenistan to the WTO in 2019.It was stated by the outcomes of the sessions as well as consultations with representatives of the above-mentioned organizations and international experts that participation of our country to the WTO in the status of observer as first measure will make optimum capabilities for modernization of national economy.
It is proposed to hold regular session of the commission for discussion of this subject on April 15.Activation of relations with specialized international organizations in implementation of modern technologies and innovations to all branches of economic complex seems to be necessary.
Cooperation with the World Organization of Intellectual Property (WOIP) opens new capability for this.In this regard, it is proposed to have video conference session with participation of the WOIP representatives, number of profile ministries and departments of Turkmenistan on exchange of practice in the sphere of copyright protection, study of the bases on intellectual property in universities, other current issues on April 16.
In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that developing constructive cooperation with competent international organizations, our Motherland makes significant contribution to common efforts for strengthening of peace and security, provision of prosperity and progress in regional and global scale.
The Head of the State noted that strategic character is initially inherent to the partnership with the UN and its leading specialized structures, with which close contacts have been established, joint projects I social and economic, humanitarian, ecological, legal and other spheres have been successfully realized and are implemented.
Having highlighted that our country would continue actively developing multidimensional cooperation with the UN and other international organizations, the Head of the State approved proposals, having directed the Vice-premier, the Head of Foreign Ministry to continue relative systematic work and provide high organizational level of all planned events.
