For two days Ashgabat police instructed to tow away cars parked in backyards

On 1 and 2 December, 2020 the Road Traffic Control Department conducted raids in residential districts of Ashgabat. Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that police vehicles with sirens on patrolled residential areas and through loud speakers demanded that cars parked in the backyards be towed away.

Raids have not been conducted for the past few months. The police had previously organized such raids before the Presidential helicopter flew over the city.

On 2 December, 2020 the helicopter of President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov did fly over the capital en route to the opening ceremony for the illegal drugs disposal facility.

In the evening of the same day police officers again demanded that the vehicles parked in front of apartment blocks be towed away.

Car owners are dissatisfied. Not all neighbourhoods are equipped with parking lots. For instance, in the residential district of Parakhat-7 a car park is an asphalt-coated non-guarded area located far from residential buildings without any lighting.

At night wheels, mirror and windshield wipers have been repeatedly removed from cars parked there. The post For two days Ashgabat police instructed to tow away cars parked in backyards first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
