It is believed that on the birthday of the Russian Ded Moroz at his patrimony in Veliky Ustyug winter truly comes into its own and frosts hit. On this day, the first snow fell in Ashgabat, inspiring thoughts about the upcoming New Year holiday.
ORIENT has already reported that for the solemn meeting of the New Year holidays, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, by order of the Ashgabat mayor’s office, will deliver from the Russian Federation the live Christmas trees, disinfected by the relevant services and supplied with phytosanitary certificate, as well as certificates of quality and origin.
The country has already launched preparations for celebration of the 2021 New Year.
The entertainment industry is also preparing for the New Year across the world, while the coronavirus pandemic is introducing its own unprecedented changes to traditional celebrations. So, in the spring, the Cambodian authorities declared the cancellation of traditional Cambodian (Khmer) New Year celebrations, scheduled on April 13-16, in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.
As the newspaper Khmer Times writes, residents can celebrate the New Year at home with their families, but it is forbidden to celebrate the holiday in public places and visit pagodas.
According to history professor Sambo Manara, the decision of the authorities to cancel the celebration of the New Year was made for the first time in the modern history of Cambodia.
The Latvian government has canceled the Christmas and New Year celebrations for the first time since 1510. This was declared on November 15 by the Minister of Health, Ilze Vinkele, she is quoted by the local agency LETA.
According to the minister, restrictions on the number of participants and the way of holding mass events will remain for the longest time. She added that “already now, we can say with confidence that this year Christmas and New Year will be celebrated quietly in the family circle.”
Due to the pandemic, the New Year celebrations were also canceled in the Polish capital Warsaw, a spokeswoman for the mayor’s office said. And in Russia, Rospotrebnadzor recommended that employers refuse to hold New Year’s corporate parties,
How tight and differ the restrictive measures depend, of course, on the epidemiological situation in each country, but today it is obvious that the way of celebration of the New 2021 for whole humanity will be not the same as usual.
And still, people will not let the pandemic to steal their main holiday, which is traditionally has been celebrating by a family reunion.
Although people across the world are pushed to wear medical masks instead of New Year’s carnival masks, the pandemic only deepens the hopes and expectations of a miracle associated with the New Year. After all, the New Year that has a smell of spruce needles and tangerines is a holiday that is always with you.
