The 22nd FIFA World Cup kicked off in Qatar. American actor Morgan Freeman, Jungkook of the Korean group BTS, and Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani performed at the opening ceremony.
After the official opening, the match between the national teams of Qatar and Ecuador was held, which was broadcast live by the “Match TV” channel.
The hosts lost to Ecuador with a score of 0:2, forward Enner Valencia scored twice. In the 16th minute, he converted a penalty, and in the 31st minute he scored with a header.
Qatar and Ecuador are in group A along with the Netherlands and Senegal.
