FDA approves the first contact lenses to treat eye allergies in the world

The world’s first healing contact lenses were approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

New lenses, developed by Johnson&Johnson company, able not only deliver medicine to the eyes and eliminate allergy symptoms, but also correct the refractive features of the eyes.

Acuvue Theravision lenses were created for allergies treatment in ophthalmic practice. The lenses contain 19 micrograms of the antihistamine ketotifen, which is slowly released to provide long-lasting relief for up to 12 hours.

The efficacy and safety of Acuvue Theravision healing contact lenses has been proven in clinical trials, informs ferra.ru.
