On May 24 2021, has held extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the celebration of the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat, at which number of subjects of the state life has been reviewed.
Members of the State Security Council, heads of the some ministries and departments and mass media were among invited participants.
Before the session, the head of the state has congratulated the participants and all fellow countrymen through them on the Day of Ashgabat and 140th anniversary of Turkmen capital, which are widely observed in the year “Turkmenistan Home of Peace and Trust”.
Our main goals are to change architectural image of Ashgabat, to provide favorable conditions for happy life, work and rest of the citizens, to enhance social protection of the nation, to open new work places, to modernize service sphere and to develop the capital.
Speaking of this, the head of the state has assured that the work for development of Ashgabat would be successfully continued in future. Streets and avenues, parks and public garden of the capital, its unique facilities will please the eye, to raise the mood, to inspire for new great achievements.
Further, the floor was given to Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Sh. Durdiliyev to report on ongoing preparation to the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the capital.
It has become a good tradition to celebrate holidays and remarkable dates in all parts of the country. This is indicated by the scale of events held on occasion of the 140th anniversary of Turkmen capital, which became one of the largest cultural centers of the world.
According to the plan approved by relative Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the activity for high-level organization of celebrations and cultural events is carried out in the main city of the country.
Various cultural events, contests, round table sessions, international online meetings, media forums are held since the beginning of the year in honor of the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat, which is thought to be a true pearl’ of Asia. Videos and articles glorifying Turkmen capital are broadcasted on TV and radio channels and on the websites.
XX International Multi-purpose Exhibition “White City Ashgabat” and the contest of architectural project among the designers timed to this date, which enhances the importance of this event in life of the country, are held in Trade and Industrial Chamber on May 24 25.
Ground-breaking ceremony of new residential complex in the north of the capital as well as opening of 140 double-store cottages in Choganly residential complex are planned to be held on May 25.
Various events will take place on occasion of the Day of Ashgabat and Last Bell ceremony.
Having listened to the report, the President highlighted that symbolically, current remarkable date of the 140th anniversary of the city is observed in the year of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.
Having noted that coming events on occasion of the 140th anniversary of the capital have to be held in enthusiastic atmosphere, the head of the state requested to provide strict control of high-level organization of all coming events, having given number of instructions on this account to the vice-premier.
Further, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Ovezov has reported on the measures for deserving celebration of the Day of Ashgabat.
According to the orders of the head of the state, big number of Hyundai All News Super Aero City buses and Toyota Corolla taxis, which would work inside the capital and between the cities, has been bought for provision of transport services.
It is remarkable that all buses working inside the city will be free of charge. It will be a present for the residents and guests of the city and will enhance celebration atmosphere.
Having listened to the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has requested to take measures for improvement of services provided in passenger transportation sphere.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers G. Mushikov has reported on work carried out by the establishments under his supervision for fulfilment of instructions on solution of current objectives set out in the Concept of development of the capital.
Having listened to the report, the head of the state noted that white-marble Ashgabat embodies economic and political progress of the country, cultural level, spiritual life and intellectual potential of the society.
Reached levels are directly related to fulfilment of plans in this directions, the President continued, having ordered the vice-premeir to hold relative works under strict control.
Further having congratulated the head of the state on the 140th anniversary of Turkmen capital and noted colossal merits of the President in grandiose achievements of the country and its main city, Speaker of the Mejlis of National Assembly G.
Mammedova informed about the Resolution adopted at the regular session of the Mejlis of National Assembly on May 22.According to the document, President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the People’s Council of National Assembly Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is awarded with title of Honored Citizen of Ashgabat.
Having read the Resolution, G. Mammedova has handed over relative document to the head of the state, having wished strong health, longevity and big success in his activity for the sake of people and prosperity of the country.
Having expressed gratitude for high appreciation of his work, the President of Turkmenistan highlighted that it is a great honor to be an honorable citizen of Turkmen capital, having noted that he would continue working for the prosperity of Ashgabat and improvement of social and living conditions of native people.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister R. Meredov has reported on work for further implementation of political course of neutral Turkmenistan, where important role is given to the capital of the country.
It was highlighted that Ashgabat is famous as a center of international cooperation, a place of important forums and meetings of regional and global character, for which necessary infrastructure has been made. High organizational level and substantial agenda of these big events enhance the authority of Turkmen capital as a recognized peace-making center.
Therefore, the success reached by the country in the world arena is closely related with the main city of the country.In this context, the importance of fruitful cooperation with diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations, which number is always increasing in Turkmenistan, has been noted.
Thus, relative work is carried out for opening of the Representative of the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The main city of the country is also known in the world as a business center, intellectual and cultural capital.Owing to the initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Ashgabat has become a member of the World Federation of Tourist Cities on May 1, 2020.
Under cooperation with the UNESCO, relative decision in inclusion of Turkmen capital to the UNESCO Smart City Network in Design category is expected in the second half of this year.
At present time, the proposals on enhancement of the role of Ashgabat on regional and international arena are developed.In particular, National Plan of Strengthening Cooperation in various direction between our capital and 11 foreign cities, with which sister and friendly relations have been establishment, is under development.
The subject on joining of Ashgabat to international organization United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) is reviewed.At the same time, opportunities of foundation of Volunteer Center for stimulation of the citizens to healthy and active life style, provision of ecological wealth are studied.
Further, addressing the participants of the session, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted again the importance of the 140th anniversary of Ashgabat, which is observed these days.
We are proud of our capital. For the short period, Ashgabat has changed beyond recognition, the head of the state said, having noted that the utmost attention has been paid to development of the main city of the country in the last years.
Big financial resources are invested to the development of the capital, the boundaries of the city are gradually expanding.At the same time, social facilities predominate among new construction facilities built in Ashgabat.it includes higher educational institutes, museums, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, sport complexes, shopping centers, residential buildings and other.
World famous foreign companies are attracted to construction of the facilities in the capital, the head of the state said.
Elaborating this subject, Turkmen leader has noted that we are witnesses of confident and efficient implementation of advanced world practice in all spheres of life activity of the state and society. Rapid development and change of the image of Ashgabat are happening in front of us.
Social infrastructure of the capital like schools, kindergartens, medical centers, sport complexes are the things that we pay the utmost attention to, the head of the state highlighted. At the same time, special attention is paid to provision of ecological wealth, natural protection and increment of sizes of parks and forest bands.
The President of the country has also highlighted that the Concept of the city development provides careful treatment of its historical part, restoration of buildings located in this place, preservation of original image of Ashgabat.
In this regard, the head of the state reminded that ground breaking ceremony of new capital district, which was named Ashgabat city, would take place on the next day.
Advanced architectural solutions would be used during construction of new residential complexes, Turkmen leader said, highlighting that following the main principles that Ashgabat is for people, for all its residents remains unchanged.
Having noted big merits of Ashgabat residents in improvement of the beauty, creation of comfort in native city, the head of the state has announced about the decision to confer the government awards to the citizens who distinguished themselves in work and achieved high results and signed relative Decree.
Addressing Speaker of the Mejlis of National Assembly G. Mammedova, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov requested to present awards to distinguished Turkmenistan citizens in solemn atmosphere.
Continuing the session, the head of the state has also signed number of documents, which include the Resolution on Ashgabat City residential Complex, which would be built in the north of the capital.
The President informed that according to this document, Directorate of facilities under construction is established under the Ministry of Construction and Architecture for the control of facilities of Ashgabat City residential complex, which are under construction.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has also signed the Resolution of the contest for achievement of the highest results in social, economic and cultural spheres by the outcomes of 2021 among the districts of the regions and cities.
The head of the state has focused that other facilities are under construction in the capital to mark the 30th anniversary of independence. All of them are designated for provision of prosperous life of the citizens.
