Expert Aronsky commented on the results of the Ashgabat summit

The leaders of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan held a trilateral summit in Ashgabat dedicated to the development of cooperation in Central Asia. Chairman of the Union of Economists of Turkmenistan Yuri Aronsky commented on the results of the high-level meeting, Arzuw NEWS reports.

During the summit, Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Emomali Rahmon and Shavkat Mirziyoyev exchanged views on various aspects of political, economic, energy, water and transport cooperation.

As a result of the summit, the leaders of the three countries signed a joint statement in which they expressed their interest in strengthening regional peace and security. They also reaffirmed their readiness to jointly combat the threats of terrorism, separatism and extremism in Central Asia.

The statement specifically noted the prospects for cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure and routes linking the three countries. In addition, the integrated use of water and energy resources was discussed, including the rational use of the Amudarya River, which flows through their territories.

The expert noted that the goal of the summit was not only to deepen trilateral cooperation, but also to develop common positions before a broader regional meeting of leaders of Central Asian countries, which will be held in September this year in Dushanbe (Tajikistan).

Aronsky also added that the Ashgabat summit showed the commitment of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to strengthening ties and coordinating policies on issues that are crucial for the stability and development of Central Asia in the future.
