Exhibition of the UIET: Turkmen brands and startups in the context of import substitution

More than 170 exhibitors take part in an exhibition that demonstrates the success of private companies in Turkmenistan. The universal show is timed to the 13th anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (UIET) of the country.

The stands of the food sector make the most of the exhibit. There are 90 participants who display a number of food products that have already been welcomed by consumers, as well as new products that are just entering the market.

Confectionery, bakery, cooked meats and sausages, dairy products and cheeses, ice cream, dressings, fish delicacies, fruit juices and much more such well-known manufacturers as Hasar, Misgär, Bars, Tomus, Talhan, Täze aý, Elin, Salkyn, Erteki, Bereketli have made a bright and mouth-watering abundance at their stands.

In addition, a significant segment is given to the companies specialized in production of industry products such as building materials, furniture, household appliances, as well as plastic items, paints and varnishes, detergents and disinfectants.

A wide range of products includes new collections of footwear made of leather and clothes produced in the country, as well as textiles, carpets, etc. All products of local producers demonstrate a dynamically implemented strategy of import substitution.

For example, the Kanagatly Nesil Individual Enterprise, which participates in the entrepreneurs’ show for the first time, attracted the attention of visitors with samples of products made from paulownia wood. The fact that the plant can grow over 20 meters tall and grow fast in the country’s climate makes the paulownia tree unique.

Azat Kurbanov, Director General of the enterprise, told ORIENT the company has purchased 1,000,000 trees, of which 150,000 will be planted an area of 200 hectares for landscaping the capital of Turkmenistan, while the rest will be used for the needs of the company’s furniture shop.

The range of products of companies engaged in the sale of canned goods is also expanding. The sale of own-produced similar products has been launched in the “365” supermarket chains in current year.

The stand of the “Aýdyň Gijeler” Economic Society, which demonstrates a large assortment of consumer electronics made in Turkmenistan, has attracted many visitors also.
