Exhibition of paintings by Turkmen artists kicks-off in St. Petersburg

On December 6, an exhibition of paintings by Turkmen artists, timed to the International Neutrality Day, opened in the St.Petersburg House of Nationalities.The exposition reflects the rich stylistic palette of national culture, where traditions and innovations harmoniously come together.

The event is organized by the Department of the World’s Humanitarian Association the Society of Turkmen Culture in St.Petersburg “Mekan” with the support of the St.

Petersburg House of Nationalities and the Committee on Interethnic Relations and the Implementation of Migration Policy in St.Petersburg.The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Government, heads of national and cultural associations of the city, teachers and students of universities of St.

Petersburg.Elena Kuznetsova, Director of the St.Petersburg House of Nationalities, was awarded a letter of appreciation on behalf of the Society of Turkmen Culture “Mekan” for many years of contribution to the development of a dialogue of cultures.

In turn, the government of the city appreciated the enormous contribution of the public organization to popularize the history and modern achievements of the Turkmen people.Representatives of Peter the Great St.

Petersburg Polytechnic University and St.Petersburg State Agrarian University, who were invited as guests of honor, delivered the welcoming speeches to the audience, having noted that Turkmen students are actively involved in the cultural life of St.

Petersburg, by promoting the values of Turkmen culture.In addition, in the Green Hall of the House of Nationalities, an exhibition was organized.Paintings, decorative and applied arts works and books on the cultural heritage and traditions of the Turkmen people, as well as on significant events in recent history of the country were exhibited.

Activists of the “Bagtyyarlyk” Council of Turkmen Students performed a kushtdepdi dance as a concert number.Upon completing the official part, the guests were treated by festive dastarhan national cuisine.
